ICCFA 2019 is quickly approaching, and we’re getting excited to travel to the beautiful city of Charlotte, North Carolina! We have our fingers crossed for the mild weather this southern state has to offer.
We want you to fully enjoy your time in Charlotte, so we’ve put together a preview of some of the best things to see or do in the Queen City.

Where to Eat or Grab Some Drinks
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just drinks — Tupelo Honey has it all! All of their Southern-inspired meals are made from scratch and change every season. Right now, their Charlotte location is serving all kinds of delicious fried chicken entrées and plenty of greens!
Looking for a local spot to satiate your sweet tooth? Head over to Mr. K’s Soft Ice Cream! Their dessert menu is full of delicious milkshakes, floats, sundaes, and much more. They also have lunch and dinner options if you’re really feeling hungry. It’s truly a nostalgic place that locals love!
Dot Dot Dot is all about making quality, one-of-a-kind cocktails — perfect for unwinding after a busy day at the conference. They also serve a fantastic array of charcuterie boards, pasta, and seasonal small plates.
Where to Go Sight Seeing
On one of the warmer days, stop by Freedom Park for some beautiful views of their Demonstration Gardens. Master Gardener volunteers design, plant, and maintain these awesome gardens. It’s a great spot for an evening stroll.
If you’re looking to see even more beautiful flowers and foliage, check out the botanical gardens at UNC Charlotte. Admission to the gardens is free, though they always appreciate donations. Expect to see some lovely spring blooms!
What to Do for Fun
Abari Game Bar is Charlotte’s first arcade bar. They have all the best classic games — Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac Man, Pinball, and more! They also have a wide selection of craft beers and cocktails.
Channel your spooky side with a ghost tour! During the tour, you will be guided by lantern light as you roam the streets of Charlotte. Your guide will share all sorts of scary stories and the history of Charlotte’s infamous landmarks.
If you’re staying for a few extra days after ICCFA, Carowinds is a fun place to visit for the day! If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you’ll love all their death-defying rollercoasters. If your family is joining you, head over to the kids’ area for a day of age-friendly fun. Between all the rides, live entertainment, and cuisine, there is sure to be something for everyone at Carowinds.
