Facebook has more than 2 billion daily active users and one-third of users engage with brands regularly, per sproutsocial.

 

Having a Facebook page provides your funeral home with another opportunity to engage with your current and potential client families. They’re already active on Facebook and many are engaging with businesses, so having a business page brings you into their social media experience.

 

The tab sections along the left side of your business page let you customize and personalize your page to reflect your brand. You can add information about your funeral home’s history, products and services, upcoming events, or even obituaries.

 

Let’s discuss how your funeral home can make the most of Facebook business page tabs.

 

How to Add Facebook Page Tabs

The main tab sections like your Home and About tabs are already added to your Facebook page. However, there are several other tab options that you can add to your page.

 

Your Facebook page’s admin can add tabs to your page. To add a new tab to your page, click on Settings, Templates and Tabs, and then the Add a Tab button at the bottom of the page — as shown in the images below. You also can reorder your tabs in the Templates and Tabs section.

In the Add a Tab pop-up window, click the button Add Tab next to the tab option you want to add. For example, you can add the Services tab to highlight your funeral home’s services. In the next few sections, we’ll discuss a few important tabs that your funeral home should add information to.

Services Tab

In the services section, you can list all of your funeral home’s services and products. You don’t have to list the prices if you don’t want to. Instead, you can include a call-to-action like “Call or email us for more information.” You also can include an image and a short description of each of your services.

 

Some ideas of services to list are traditional funerals, cremations, direct cremations, green burials, pet memorials, memorial products, grief resources, and any other services and products you offer.

About Tab

In the About tab, you can share your funeral home’s basic information including your contact information, location, and a brief description of your brand and services. There’s also an Our Story section when you can share your funeral home’s story and what makes you unique.

 

For the Our Story section, we recommend writing a few paragraphs. You can include information about your funeral home’s history, brand, products and services — but don’t be too salesy, and modestly mention any honors or awards your funeral home earned.

 

You also can upload a photo to your Our Story section. The recommended dimensions are 1200×455 pixels. You can use a photo editor like Pixlr or even just Microsoft Word to crop the photo to the correct size — as long as it’s large enough to begin with. If you try to stretch a photo that’s too small, it won’t display nicely.

 

Reviews Tab

The reviews tab is where your families can leave your funeral home a review. They can rank you on a five-star scale with five being the best and leave comments about their experience with your funeral home.

 

When asking families to leave you a review, you can reach out to them via email, phone, or invite them to your funeral home. Just make sure that you wait an appropriate amount of time to give them space after their loss.

Events Tab

The events tab lists all your funeral home’s upcoming events. You can easily create Facebook Events for your events to get more awareness about them. For example, you can create events for your annual holiday remembrance program, educational seminars or webinars, and volunteer activities.

Custom Tabs

There’s even the option to create custom tabs, such as one for listing your obituaries. However, you need to log in as a Facebook Developer to use this feature.
