As the 2018 ICCFA Convention & Expo makes its way to Las Vegas, make sure you don’t miss out on all that it has to offer!
We’ve put together a preview of some of the must-see events and attractions, so you can make the most of your trip to the 2018 ICCFA Convention & Expo this year.
This year’s convention is packed with great speakers and sessions that will cover a wide range of important topics facing our profession. With so much to do and see this year, we wanted to help by narrowing it down to the five “must-see” sessions.
The Funeral Industry: Consumer Preference vs. Industry Standards by Walker Posey and Stephanie Dunn — This workshop will focus on how funeral professionals can better connect and communicate with today’s client families and how to adapt to their changing preferences. It also will explore business strategies and technology solutions to help your funeral home plan for a successful future.
When: April 18 | 2:00-2:50 p.m.
Protecting Your Most Important Asset: Preventing Burnout by Jason Troyer — Dr. Jason Troyer highlights that virtually all professionals in high-stress jobs, such as firefighters, police officers, and first responders, have detailed counseling programs for burnout and trauma. But it’s something the funeral profession focuses very little on. His session will explore the unique challenges funeral professionals face, and the strategies for reducing burnout and compassion fatigue in the workplace.
When: April 20 | 1:00-1:50 p.m.
Why Having a Trustworthy Internet Brand Is More Important Than Ever by Tyler Yamasaki — Your website is now the first impression a family will get from your funeral home. As Tyler Yamasaki points out, you only have a few seconds to make a good first impression. This workshop will explore the different ways your funeral home can build trust with families through the internet.
When: April 20 | 2:00-2:50 p.m.
Music: An Important Bridge Between Ritual, Healing, and Remembrance by Dianne Gray — “Music imprints itself on the brain deeper than any other human experience. Music brings back the feeling of life when nothing else can.” In this session, see how music can be used as a healing ritual and as a way to remember our loved ones.
When: April 20 | 3:00-3:50 p.m.
“What Can You Do For Me?”: Taking Funeral Service to the Next Level by Jason Troyer — Today’s funeral professionals need to focus on the whole experience, not just during a family’s time of need, but both before and after the funeral as well. This session will cover topics of creating meaningful rituals for families and how to promote compassionate customer service throughout your funeral home’s staff.
When: April 21 | 11:00-11:50 a.m.
