Why
would your funeral home want to offer a keychain
to your families? Well, there are several
reasons WHY. But first we have to look at
how you offer it. For example, will you use
it as a surprise, aftercare, or maybe even
a holiday remembrance program? Let us share
a quick story with you that a customer shared
with us:
A funeral director in Tennessee was sitting
in an arrangement with the spouse of the deceased.
They were going through the photo album trying
to pick out photos for the Tribute Video.
The spouse came a across their old marriage
photo, stopped, picked up the photo and starred
at it for 15 seconds. The funeral director
noticed this and in the back of his head was
thinking “umm….that photo obviously
means a lot to this women, I wonder what I
can do extra special?”. Well, after
the arrangement conference, this funeral director
took the photo and inserted it into the keychain.
On the back of the keychain he put the marriage
dates and the deceased’s death date.
The following morning the spouse came in for
a few final arrangements. The funeral director
pulled the keychain from his pocket and handed
it to her as a surprise. She looked at it,
held it, and started crying. She said it was
“beautiful”. She told him thank
you ten times and later on told many people
how thoughtful there funeral home was.
Here this funeral director used a .99 keychain
to draw emotion and offer an “experience”.
We challenge you the next time your in an
arrangement to watch for these clues so that
you can offer your next family a surprise.
